The SF Project: Sneak Peek!

The SF Project: Sneak Peek! FASHIONmeGREEN is at it again! We swept through San Francisco and gave the fashion tech and blogging entrepreneur Jennine Jacob an eco-fashion makeover using a slew of SF-based eco-designers.

This time we partnered with Juice Beauty and Eco Citizen to create our eco-shopping story and editorial spread. Of course, we could not have done it without the amazing talent of our San Francisco photographer Alessandra Cave

As usual, we shot five eco-chic outfits that literally had us gushing over our beautiful style influencer. Intrigued… Don’t worry the full spread and Shop the Shoot is coming soon. We just wanted to give you something whet your appetite!

Not Just a Label Organic T-Shirt Collection.

Not Just A Label Organic T-Shirt Collection. More and more designers are embarking on the more sustainable and environmental way of producing fashion- and this three way collaboration with designers Patrick Mohr, Aoi Kotsuhiroi and Spon Diogo with Not Just A Label is no exception! Super styly tees produced on organic cotton with a limited edition design set from the above mentioned designers caught our eye.

Maintaining our strong focus on championing the industry’s eco-fashion sector, our t-shirts are made from organic fair-trade cotton, meaning the fabric is void of any synthetic chemicals. In addition to the ethical modes of production, t-shirts ordered from the collection will be delivered in custom designed sustainable packaging by UPS.

FMG is loving this eco-collection from NJAL and looking forward to ones to come!

The LBD: Long Black Dress.

The LBD: Long Black Dress. We all have a Little Black Dress hanging in our closets, but now is the time for a Long Black Dress… A more classic take on the maxi that is just right for beachside soirees or red carpet events. Get Ashlee Simpson-Wentz’s look from an eco-conscious line called Tristan & Trista.

All Hail the Harem Pant.

All Hail the Harem Pant. Harem pants have ruled the streets in certain parts of the world like Grenada, Spain for quite some time- and now they are making themselves known across runways and the fashion capitals of the world! A slouchy summer staple that can be dressed up or down, they have fast become a season ‘must’. KnitWit introduces an ecologically friendly soybean cashmere blend for an era that seems to be going greener than ever before. Stay eco-chic in their harem pant this fall.

New Trend: Thigh Highs.

New Trend: Thigh Highs. Sheer thigh highs have been kept in the bedroom for far too long! Now is the time to put those intimate articles to use in updating your fall looks with a slightly sweet and sexy undertone. Pair them with an otherwise conservative outfit to create an edgy look that is balanced. Sock Dreams specializes in all things socks and has just the pair to accomplish this look with regenerated cotton and nylon blend thigh highs. Put your best foot forward in a new fashionable way!

Twinkle Toes: Glitter Slip-ons.

Twinkle Toes: Glitter Slip-ons. It is still hard to believe that the King of Pop is gone… Good thing we have some amazing glitter shoes that are the embodiment of Michael Jackson himself and may even lend a hand in a successful moonwalk! Alice & Olivia recently partnered up with Keds to offer a show stopping pair of sequin slip-ons, and you’re probably already one step ahead of them if you know about Toms silver shoes that have been around for the past year.

Knuckle Ring.

Knuckle Ring. We’ve been seeing statement knuckle rings that crossover horizontally and cover two or three finger at a a time, and now we are seeing the same exuberance with a vertical addition. Acting almost as a finger brace, the new knuckle ring makes a bold appearance akin to Egyptian royalty in 3000 BC. Using only repurposed metal, Alkemie offers a fine specimen to rock the return of this adorned look.

Bold, Beautiful Brows.

Bold, Beautiful Brows. Nothing makes a beauty statement quite like a strong brow. Gone are the days when tweezers ran wild and rid your face of any stray hair that might allow for a wider than pencil thin eyebrow! Instead, full eyebrows rule- and if you don’t have ‘em naturally… fake it! We love Diane Kruger’s subtly enhanced brows for the cover of this month’s Allure. In the summer, a strong brow with a swab of lip balm is all you need to make an understated look stand out. Get the look from Jane Iredale’s natural mineral makeup Bitty Brow Kit.

The SF Project Style Influencer- Jeninne Jacob.

The SF Project Style Influencer- Jeninne Jacob. The next eco-fashion makeover is set in San Francisco! For the SF Project we wanted to style profile someone as entrepreneurial as she is fashion savvy… we sought out Jennine Jacob. Jennine is the founder of the Independent Fashion Blogger forum and hosts an annual IFB Conference in New York during New York Fashion Week. We’re headed to San Fran next week for the shoot, but tracked Jennine down to get a better sense of her style and that of the city she resides in.

FMG:  How would you describe your style?

JJ: I would say “eclectic-intuitive.”  Meaning, I change my style with my mood, the weather, ephemeral influences. It’s all a mix, I tend to wear a lot of vintage and recycled clothing and mixed with high street. One day I’ll be able to wear designer pieces, but not yet.

FMG: What influences your style (people, places, art, icons…)?

JJ: Everything from the architectural colors, a person walking down the street, a photo on a blog. I tend to work from feelings, attitudes, and very vague visual cues.
FMG: How would you describe San Francisco style?

JJ: Eclectic, layered… comfortable. I think it’s the geography, the cold summers the hills, the bad parking situation. You really can’t wear sky high heels because of the hills, and the parking situation means unless you’re in a cab you’ll have to walk… and forget about summer dresses or shorts, it gets cold at the turn of a dime.
FMG: What are the three most coveted things in your closet?

JJ: The oversized vintage tapestry bag, it has a guy playing the lute for his lady, it’s cute! The Pierre Hardy for Gap bow wedges. The bows are huge! My vintage yellow polkadot dress with a bow. Seriously.
FMG: What are you most excited about in being a part of the FASHIONmeGREEN SFProject?

JJ: I’m really excited to see what kind of designers are working with sustainablity in mind. It’s really such a new field and every season it gets better and better, the selection gets more appealing and it becomes less of a niche… which is a really great thing.
