So, go to this link to start your voting. The actress was nominated for Best Supporting Role for Up in the Air- opposite George Clooney.

For her look at the 82nd Academy Awards, Kendrick opted for a naturally enhanced fresh face. Make-up artist, Sara Glick prepped the actress’ skin and said, ”For a natural flush, I accented Anna’s cheek bones with a coral shade.” She used eco-cheek by Tarte Cosmetics, a non-toxic natural cheek stain. To get Kendrick’s look, dab and blend the cheek stain on the apples of your cheeks.

Fake Fur- it is no longer a hairy situation.

“Fake fur has changed so much and has become so great now,” stated Karl Lagerfeld at the Chanel Fall 2010/2011 Preview. Lagerfeld wanted to bring attention to global warming in an unconventional way by emphasizing ‘global cooling’ at his latest runway show, in which he brought in massive ice sculptures that looked like glaciers. We’re not so sure about the global cooling sentiment (all signs point to the opposite direction)…, though overall this is pretty impacting- if the leading luxury label Chanel endorses the use of fake fur we could see a huge shift in the fashion industry and their use of fur.

“You cannot fake chic, but you can be chic in fake fur.” -Karl Lagerfeld

The best actress wore vintage!

Sandra Bullock was absolutely drop-dead gorgeous at the Oscars last night and rumor has it that the dress by Marchesa was constructed from vintage materials. Amazing.

We didn’t see any of the exceptional sustainable gowns from Gary Harvey (right), but thought if there were a place to wear such a creative manifestation of recycled fabric, the Academy Awards would be the place to do it! Maybe some of our leading ladies will catch on to that for next year…

Foiled: metallic nails for Spring 2010.

Metallics are showing up across the designer board for spring, and Khloe Kardashian is on top on this trend.

Gunmetal grey is the most versatile, but you can play around with golds, silvers and coppers too. Can’t decide which color to go for? The non-toxic natural nail polish line, Priti has put out a show-stopping color that embodies them all. Silvery gold with a very neutral undertone, Hardy Water Lily (bottom right) is the staple color for spring. Feeling a bit more adventurous? Take this look further with talon tip shaped nails.

We love the contrasting styles of these two reality TV ‘It girls’ from The Hills. LC is picture perfect classic with a tailored blazer, peep-toe shoes and a timeless white blouse. Now for the sustainable style makeover! This look is quite classic, and requires an investment in a staple blazer. Stella McCartney delivers amazing tailored pieces that have designer details with a real wearability. Build the look with a white oxford shirt from Bamford, and a softly structured skirt from EcoSkin. Finish the look with a sweet pair of vegan ‘patent leather’ peep-toe pumps from Neuaura.

Prefer the edgy look sported by Audrina? We’ve got you covered! Audrina balances a slouchy causal top with street chic jeans and standout shoes. SUST is your go-to for California chic layers. Opt for their Disco Top in a number of colors. Who better to provide you with street chic denim than G-Star Raw? And now G-Star is producing an eco-denim line souring organic and recycled denim. Top it all off with a stunning pair of statement shoes from Neuaura.

A romper for all seasons.

Style story: Why does this winter feel so long…? We are ready for the fresh bright prints of spring- and in many combinations. Get ready to play with different patterns and strike a careful balance of contrast and compliment with these bold prints. Keep the shoes and accessories neutral or slightly interesting with subtle pops of color.

Green story: Molly Sims looked absolutely stunning outside the DVF show during NYFW 2010, and you can get the look from ethical fashion label Suno. Suno produces their designs and patterns in New York and then works with a local group of talented artisans in Kenya to produce the garments- promoting fair working conditions, and social and economic growth.

NYFW A/W 2010 makeup trend: fresh faces and red lips.

Looks like the vampire craze has spread to the runways! However, the porcelain skin with clean fresh eyes balances the bold lip. This color will be great for transitioning into Spring with a slight orange under-hue.

For a rich red lipstick that packs a punch try Bare Escentuals Red Delicious. The color is bold and opaque, so you really get the statement effect. If you have a coral lip color, brush a bit over top to create a new color that is more playful.

The eco-minded brand, Bodkin, has rolled out some amazing effortless pieces for warm weather dressing. This dress is a favorite of ours and captures a certain 1940’s feel with a modern twist. Mens shoes were huge on the runways for NYFW and you can see here how they balance the super feminine dress.

Hare + Hart = ethical leather.

The newest ethical leather label to hit the fashion scene- Hare + Hart is a fiercely designed line that is also considered. Advocating the entire use of free range grass fed cows, and a natural acetate biodegradable fiber sourced from a sustainable forest- this line is as eco as it is chic!

Check out an exclusive interview with Co-founders Emily Harrison and Jennie Engelhardt in a Designer Insider Interview on GretaGuide.

The leather blazer is a look that blends classic and edgy- effortlessly. Here Taylor Momsen is sporting the new leather jacket at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week S/S 2010.

This season, Hare + Hart is producing a fantastic leather blazer sourced from Argentina, where the cows are free-roaming grass eaters who are also used for consumption, so the whole cow is used.
The puffy jacket is the only resource to stay warm when the temperatures drop- but it doesn’t have to mean that you lose your shape or style. In fact, this season the puffy has had a revival. Wear it cropped or sinch it in with a belt for a modern take.

Loving the oversized layer trend- especially the snoods! What a funny word and an even funnier bit of fabric that actually looks super chic.

Falling right in line with this oversize concept, adding versatility and and eco edge is the line Elementum. The perfect accomplice to this oversized trend- but with some staying power.

(top photo from WhoWhatWear)

All about the romance.

The runways during fashion week in Paris were overflowing with ruffles galore! Aligned with the turn in the finance world- fashion is taking on a lighter more hopeful feel. It is the return of romance.

Bring this trend into your wardrobe with a ruffle detail top. The exaggerated ruffle neckline draws the eye, and is perfectly balanced with a longer length to be worn as a dress or long top. Top by Richard Nicoll, available at People Tree.

Eco Chic Fashions is an environmental fashion show that...

Eco Chic Fashions is an environmental fashion show that incorporates the traditional glamour elements of fashion with a eco-consciousness. Circulating through the better part of Asia, it is now set to showcase in Geneva this week, January 20- 21st.

Bridging the gap between mainstream fashion and ecofashion, this event is attracting designers from all backgrounds including Diane von Furstenberg.

The video above gives a great overview for why ecofashion is important and why the fashion industry is moving towards more sustainable practices.

Cast your vote for the Observer Ethical Awards 2010.
Being the crafty and conscious human beings we are, it was inevitable that we would evolve in our use and re-use of clothing. We are loving the very personal approach by reknit, where you send in your old sweater and it is turned into a scarf.

Here’s the tag line: “This month, my mom will turn your old sweater into a new scarf.”

Brilliant. Thanks to Josh Spear for posting and sharing this sustainable fashion resource.

On average, women eat 7 pounds of lipstick a year- YUCK!
