Anna Kendrick may be new to the big screen, but her flawless beauty and style sense shot her straight to the top. The actress was nominated for Best Supporting Role for Up in the Air- opposite George Clooney.

For her look at the 82nd Academy Awards, Kendrick opted for a naturally enhanced fresh face. Make-up artist, Sara Glick prepped the actress’ skin and said, ”For a natural flush, I accented Anna’s cheek bones with a coral shade.” She used eco-cheek by Tarte Cosmetics, a non-toxic natural cheek stain. To get Kendrick’s look, dab and blend the cheek stain on the apples of your cheeks.

Fake Fur- it is no longer a hairy situation.

“Fake fur has changed so much and has become so great now,” stated Karl Lagerfeld at the Chanel Fall 2010/2011 Preview. Lagerfeld wanted to bring attention to global warming in an unconventional way by emphasizing ‘global cooling’ at his latest runway show, in which he brought in massive ice sculptures that looked like glaciers. We’re not so sure about the global cooling sentiment (all signs point to the opposite direction)…, though overall this is pretty impacting- if the leading luxury label Chanel endorses the use of fake fur we could see a huge shift in the fashion industry and their use of fur.

Sandra Bullock was absolutely drop-dead gorgeous at the Oscars last night and rumor has it that the dress by Marchesa was constructed from vintage materials. Amazing.

We didn’t see any of the exceptional sustainable gowns from Gary Harvey (right), but thought if there were a place to wear such a creative manifestation of recycled fabric, the Academy Awards would be the place to do it! Maybe some of our leading ladies will catch on to that for next year…

Metallics are showing up across the designer board for spring, and Khloe Kardashian is on top on this trend.

Gunmetal grey is the most versatile, but you can play around with golds, silvers and coppers too. Can’t decide which color to go for? Style story: Why does this winter feel so long…? We are ready for the fresh bright prints of spring- and in many combinations. Looks like the vampire craze has spread to the runways! However, the porcelain skin with clean fresh eyes balances the bold lip. This color will be great for transitioning into Spring with a slight orange under-hue.

For a rich red lipstick that packs a punch try Bare Escentuals Red Delicious. The color is bold and opaque, so you really get the statement effect. If you have a coral lip color, brush a bit over top to create a new color that is more playful.

Loving the oversized layer trend- especially the snoods! What a funny word and an even funnier bit of fabric that actually looks super chic.

Eco Chic Fashions is an environmental fashion show that incorporates the traditional glamour elements of fashion with a eco-consciousness. Circulating through the better part of Asia, it is now set to showcase in Geneva this week, January 20- 21st.

Bridging the gap between mainstream fashion and ecofashion, this event is attracting designers from all backgrounds including Diane von Furstenberg.

The video above gives a great overview for why ecofashion is important and why the fashion industry is moving towards more sustainable practices.

Being the crafty and conscious human beings we are, it was inevitable that we would evolve in our use and re-use of clothing. We are loving the very personal approach by reknit, where you send in your old sweater and it is turned into a scarf.
