2010 Resort Wear: Jumpsuits Reign. Nothing spells fun in the sun like a playful print jumpsuit! That’s precisely why so many designers included them in their Resort Collections this year… A throwback to the 50’s when women were effortlessly chic in beach cover-ups that embodied functional fashion.

It’s A Plaid World Out There. Plaid was everywhere on the runways for Fall 2010. Not just a hipster look anymore, plaid is transcending into a very wearable and eye-catching uniform. We love how Proenza Schouler gets a bit Alice in Wonderland inspired and keeps the dress cropped and paired with sheer thigh-highs. Layer on the boyfriend cardi and a great pair of wellies and you are set! Bibico’s collections are produced in Nepal and India through fair trade where each item is handcrafted.

Oxford Shoes For Ladies. Women have been stealing their male counter parts’ sweaters, tees and jeans forever- now it is time to covet their shoes! Alexa Chung shows us how to sport oxfords in style. No longer meant just for the blokes or school children, oxfords are a fashion statement that brings a new take to a flat and comfy shoe about town.

Pair them with leggings or those boyfriend jeans you already stole, and add a button down and scarf for the full effect. Marais makes a vegan version that is fair trade made in China from cotton.

The Little White Dress, Inspired From Somewhere… Less is more this Spring. At least that is what the designers have put forth in their S/S 2010 collections. Clean lines, varying hues of white and ivory, simple and elegant cuts- all reigned the runways. This time it is all about the classic little white dress.

Choose something that is slightly feminine with either a sheer layered fabric or a slightly sexy detail- like an off the shoulder cut. For poolside day parties, nights out in Vegas or a summer event, this type of dress is perfect.

Underwear As Outerwear: S/S 2010 Trend. It’s getting hot in here, so take off all your clothes! A sexy and fresh trend that is slowly infiltrating its way into the mainstream and a nightclub or office near you- underwear as outerwear.

A return to the feminine celebration of being sexy but not slutty. It is a delicate balance of showing just a bit and leaving more to the imagination. The key to pulling this sultry sweet look off is to mix textures and keep your shoes sturdy and a tad more on the conservative side so as not to look like you came from a porn set.

You can layer two or three sheer bras under a body suit to get a more unique (and covered!) look. Or, add a fun print solid bra for full coverage. Pair the body suit with a high-waisted knee length skirt or pair of trousers and heels and a long cardigan for an office appropriate look. Make sure that the body suit you are wearing during work hours is solid and doesn’t leave you nervous about showing too much.

For a hot night out, take a cue from our favorite celebrities and pair a sheer body suit with a satin bra with a high-waisted mini and a blazer. For the eco-friendly versions of this trend be sure to check out what American Apparel, Stella McCartney and Eco-Boudoir have on offer.

A Coat For All Seasons: The Trench. The trench coat has long been on the list of “Invest In What You Love”. Every woman has or aspires to have the perfect form-fitting and classic coat in their wardrobe. Season after season it makes an appearance on the runways and on the streets as a ‘must have’!

That is why is has been deemed the coat of all seasons- timeless as it is functional. We have all  heard of Burberry kaki trenches being passed down through the generations of a family. That certainly is one way to partake in sustainable fashion, but if you wanted to take it a step further and ensure that the trench you are passing along was made from organically sourced fibers you might consider Taxi CDC

We are also in love with the more tailored blazer-like trench fresh off the runways from Stella McCartney’s RTW Fall 2010.

Celebrity Sustainable Style Makeover: The Hills. We love the contrasting styles of these two reality TV ‘It girls’ from The Hills. LC is picture perfect classic with a tailored blazer, peep-toe shoes and a timeless white blouse. Now for the sustainable style makeover! This look is quite classic, and requires an investment in a staple blazer. Stella McCartney delivers amazing tailored pieces that have designer details with a real wearability. Build the look with a white oxford shirt from Bamford, and a softly structured skirt from EcoSkin. Finish the look with a sweet pair of vegan ‘patent leather’ peep-toe pumps from Neuaura.

Prefer the edgy look sported by Audrina? We’ve got you covered! Audrina balances a slouchy causal top with street chic jeans and standout shoes. SUST is your go-to for California chic layers. Opt for their Disco Top in a number of colors. Who better to provide you with street chic denim than G-Star Raw? And now G-Star is producing an eco-denim line souring organic and recycled denim. Top it all off with a stunning pair of statement shoes from Neuaura.
